Job summary

Tesco invites you to join a two-year graduate engineering scheme in Welwyn Garden City. You’ll be exposed to the latest technologies, learn to automate, safeguard data and craft large systems using agile methods. You’ll spend time in Tesco labs, coding and trying new tech, starting 6 September 2027.

You will build and run new features, work on backend and frontend software projects at scale, and be supported to develop your skills whether you’re brand new or exploring tech further.

Qualifications

• An interest in how things work, building solutions, or improving systems (we don’t need CS degree but some coding experience)
• Testing ideas, collaborating with others, and being open to learning are important
• We’ll support you to develop technical skills as you progress
• You don’t need a CS degree but coding experience is desirable

About the role

With exposure to the latest technologies, you’ll spend this 2-year scheme developing skills that will support you to become one of our future engineering leaders. Learn to automate, safeguard data, and craft large systems using agile methods. You’ll spend time in Tesco labs, meeting tech grads, coding and trying our new tech.

Salary:£40,000

Programme start date:6September 2027

You will need

Working at our Welwyn Garden City campus

Our leafy, green campus is just 10 minutes' walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.

On campus, you’ll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials.
