Job summary

Alter Domus in London is seeking a Head of Technology Procurement to own technology procurement across Software and SaaS, Cloud and Infrastructure, IT and Managed Services. You will set category sourcing strategies, drive value and strengthen vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years’ experience in procurement roles, ideally in financial or professional services.
  • Strong knowledge of technology - software, SaaS, cloud, IT and managed services.
  • Experience negotiating IT and services contracts with Legal and Risk.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activity, including spend and market analysis, RFP, bid assessment, supplier negotiation and contract support.
  • Apply commercial acumen to secure best total value and optimal total cost of ownership.
  • Negotiate with global software, cloud and IT services vendors.
  • Utilise knowledge of licensing, subscriptions, consumption and service models to optimise relationships.
  • Build KPIs and measurement practices to ensure best-in-class supplier agreements.
  • Lead spend management for technology categories, including renewals and true-ups.
  • Partner with Technology, Risk, Finance and Legal to deliver robust sourcing strategies.

Reporting to the Head of Technology Procurement, you will own Technology procurement for Alter Domus, managing a significant portion of our €90M annual spend across Software and SaaS, Cloud and Infrastructure, IT and Managed Services, Telecoms, Hardware and Data/Market Data. You will set and execute category sourcing strategies, drive commercial value, and strengthen vendor relationships across Alter Domus. Working closely with the wider Procurement team, Technology leadership and stakeholders across the business, you will improve margin, optimise cost structures and elevate procurement maturity across Technology procurement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead end to end sourcing activity including spend and market analysis, RFP preparation, bid assessment, supplier negotiation and contract support, including complex, multi-year technology tenders.
  • Apply commercial acumen and negotiation skills to secure best total value and optimal total cost of ownership across licensing, subscription, consumption and managed service models.
  • Be comfortable and efficient in applying leverage in commercial negotiations with global software, cloud and IT services vendors.
  • Harness your expert knowledge of the technology supply market and the commercial models that exist – perpetual, subscription, consumption-based, outcome-based and blended resourcing – to ensure that Alter Domus has optimised commercial and vendor relationships.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to make decisions with less than 100% data.
  • Implement a robust set of KPIs and measurement practices to ensure best-in-class supplier agreements, interacting with strategic technology suppliers and partners to ensure any issues are identified and tackled fast, while building proactive and positive supplier relationships to enhance their performance for the firm.
  • Ability to build categories and long-term strategic plans whilst also being able to deliver operationally. The role is a combination of strategic and operational.
  • Lead all elements of spend management for your categories, including strategic understanding of the technology supply market place, pricing and term negotiations, renewal and true-up management, preparation and analysis of bid proposals/packages, supplier selection, negotiation and communication with users across Alter Domus and the functions.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with key senior stakeholders across Technology, Risk, People, Finance, Legal and other global functions to understand requirements, influence and challenge demand, and deliver robust, transparent procurement processes.
  • Partner across all global functions to develop and implement optimal strategic sourcing strategies, as well as with the wider business to drive margin improvements while increasing the sophistication of our sourcing and procurement practices.
  • Build trusted, collaborative relationships across the organisation, acting as a knowledgeable and solutions-oriented business partner to Technology leadership in particular.
Operational & Process Excellence
  • Contribute to the Procurement Transformation through adoption of new processes, tools, analytics and ways of working.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity whilst the Procurement Transformation is being implemented (Orchestration, CM, Spend Analytics and Market Intelligence).
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the technology supply market and commercial models to support informed decision-making, and deliver a compliant procurement process with accurate savings tracking and financial forecasting.
  • Support the development of procurement documentation, playbooks and best practices, and ensure effective contract management, supplier performance management and service level governance across the technology vendor base.
In addition you will need to:
  • Promote and build Alter Domus' brand and culture both internally and externally, acting as an ambassador and role model to employees, clients, and customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Support the development and engagement of employees at all levels, actively promoting the Employer Value Proposition within all regional teams and role modelling the Alter Domus values to our people, clients and customers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, encouraging employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Drive a culture of compliance and risk control to mitigate financial, operational and reputational risks.

PROFILE
  • 5-10 years’ experience in procurement roles, ideally within a financial services or professional services environment. However, attitude and ability to showcase delivery excellence is more important than industry knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Technology – software and SaaS, cloud and infrastructure, IT and managed services, telecoms and data – with a solid grasp of technology licensing and commercial models.
  • Solid understanding of Category Management and strategic procurement methodologies. More importantly, applying this knowledge in a fit for purpose manner.
  • Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation capabilities, including experience negotiating IT and services contracts alongside Legal and Risk.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on operational delivery.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English, with the ability to communicate credibly with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Results and action oriented, with a demonstrated ability to implement and drive projects, processes and improvement in a multinational environment.
