Job summary

GKN Aerospace Bristol is offering a year-in-industry internship in the Global Technology Centre Bristol. You will gain hands-on experience with automated systems, PLC code, and aerospace manufacturing processes while collaborating with a diverse team.

You’ll spend time on real projects, be guided by industry experts, and participate in an assessment-centered process. The program includes a starting salary and a chance to network globally.

Qualifications

• Must be studying toward an undergraduate degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic or Aerospace engineering.
• Strong willingness to learn new technical skills in software and hardware.
• Good written and spoken English and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test automated systems as part of aerospace projects.
• Work with PLC code during integration and testing.
• Assist with installation of automation into the GTC Bristol.
• Collaborate with automation suppliers within our ecosystem.
• Create technical documentation and reports for projects.

Job description

Placements in the GKN Automation Technology team are available for enthusiastic candidates seeking to develop knowledge and skill in creating new automated manufacturing processes for the next generation of aircraft. We work closely with production sites to improve the technology we use today and to develop automated technology for tomorrow. As a team we have on-site access to industrial robots, control systems and advanced aerospace automated assembly cells that we use to enhance GKN's ability to adopt future automated technologies. Typically you'll spend around 20-40% of your time hands on with our automated equipment. Our internships will offer the opportunity to be involved with at least one of the following:

• Develop and test automated systems
• Work with PLC code
• Support with the installation of industrial automated technology into the GTC
• Work with industrial robots
• Create technical documentation
• Work with automation suppliers within our ecosystem, We have an opportunity available for aspiring engineers to join our automation team on a year-long placement for academic year 26/27. For this opportunity we're looking for candidates who have the following skills, experiences, or education: Knowledge and Education

Knowledge and Education

• Must be studying towards an undergraduate degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Electronic engineering, Aerospace engineering or another related discipline.
