VIVO Defence Services is seeking a Technology Architect to connect business ambition with secure, sustainable technology solutions across applications, cloud, data, integration, infrastructure and cyber security.

You will define architecture principles, roadmaps and governance while shaping solution designs and evaluating proposals for security, resilience and long‑term serviceability. Hybrid role with travel across the UK, supporting a Defence‑focused technology landscape.

Formación

• Substantial experience in technology or solution architecture across applications, cloud, data, integration, infrastructure and security.
• Ability to define architecture principles, roadmaps and governance with clear guidance for complex designs.
• Experience reviewing designs from external providers and challenging them constructively.

Responsabilidades

• Define and maintain technology principles, standards and reference architectures aligned with business priorities.
• Assess existing systems, integrations and technical debt to simplify the technology estate.
• Shape and assure solution designs, evaluate proposals against security, resilience, cost and long‑term serviceability.

Technology Architect

At VIVO Defence Services, we deliver essential infrastructure and facilities management services across the UK Defence estate. We’re looking for a Technology Architect to help shape our technology landscape, guide investment decisions and ensure our systems work effectively together to support our people, customers and services.

This is an opportunity to combine strategic thinking with practical solution assurance, bringing an independent perspective to technology decisions that have a lasting impact.

About The Role

You’ll develop a clear view of VIVO’s technology landscape and help define how it should evolve. Working across applications, cloud, data, integration, infrastructure and cyber security, you’ll establish architecture principles, shape roadmaps and assess proposed solutions against business needs. You’ll collaborate with business and technical colleagues and external providers, offering constructive challenge and clear recommendations to ensure solutions are secure, resilient, cost‑effective and supportable. You’ll assess existing systems, integrations and technical debt, identifying opportunities to simplify the technology estate, reduce duplication and improve how information flows across the organisation. A key part of your role will be shaping and assuring solution designs. You’ll evaluate proposals against business requirements, security, resilience, cost and long‑term serviceability, making risks and trade‑offs clear so stakeholders can make informed decisions. You’ll also guide the evolution and integration of our enterprise platforms, promoting reusable integration patterns, effective use of APIs and consistent information models. Working alongside data and cyber colleagues, you’ll embed appropriate governance, privacy and security into designs from the outset.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll define and maintain technology principles, standards and reference architectures, supported by a roadmap that aligns technology investment with business priorities and transformation plans.

You’ll assess existing systems, integrations and technical debt, identifying opportunities to simplify the technology estate, reduce duplication and improve how information flows across the organisation.

A key part of your role will be shaping and assuring solution designs. You’ll evaluate proposals against business requirements, security, resilience, cost and long‑term serviceability, making risks and trade‑offs clear so stakeholders can make informed decisions.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll have substantial experience in technology or solution architecture, with a broad understanding of enterprise applications, cloud, data, integration, infrastructure and security.

You’ll be confident developing architecture principles, roadmaps and governance, and experienced in reviewing and constructively challenging designs produced by external providers.

We’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and enterprise integration patterns.
• Practical understanding of IBM Maximo, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP environments.
• Knowledge of facilities management, asset management and customer‑management technologies.
• An understanding of APIs, identity, security, resilience, data architecture and service management.
• The ability to produce clear architecture documentation and explain complex technical decisions to business and technical audiences.
• Sound judgement when balancing delivery pace, cost, risk and long‑term sustainability.

Experience in facilities management, Defence, asset‑intensive services or another regulated environment would be beneficial. A relevant degree or architecture qualification is desirable, although we also welcome candidates whose expertise has been developed through substantial practical experience.
