Qualifications

Technologist Team Leader – The Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Technologist Lead will supervise a team of Technologists and Technicians. The team will develop new materials and products, maintain formulations, solve manufacturing problems, support production with product verification and testing, and provide technical support across the HellermannTyton Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day‑to‑day operation of the technical team
  • Provide technical support to production, sales, marketing and sister companies, travelling to sites as required
  • Ensure all documentation for materials is kept current and accurate
  • Formulate materials to maximise properties and comply with health & safety legislation
  • Project‑manage the development and introduction of new materials into production
  • Support New Product and Process Development
  • Test materials and products to customer specifications and prepare reports to feedback results and conclusions
  • Select materials and contact raw material suppliers to evaluate options, travelling as required to support development projects
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree level qualification in materials science or plastics discipline or equivalent
  • Experience within the plastics industry, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of rubber and plastic technologies
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook & Project)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Relevant skills and experience in business improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of materials and material development
  • Knowledge of international test methods & specifications
