Technologist – Footwear

Kettering, UK

Up to £28,000 per annum (DOE)

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

We're working with a leading testing and research organisation who are looking for a Technologist to join their expert team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the forefront of product compliance, performance testing, and materials development — helping clients ensure quality and safety across their ranges.

About The Role

As a Technologist, you'll play a key role in supporting customers through technical testing, analysis, and reporting. You'll work on a range of projects involving product compliance and performance, helping clients meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include
  • Conducting and interpreting physical product tests
  • Preparing technical reports and responding to customer queries
  • Presenting findings and leading seminars or webinars
  • Supporting and mentoring technicians within the team
  • Delivering training sessions and contributing to technical publications
  • Visiting customers to promote services and discuss project outcomes
  • Working in line with Quality Systems, Health & Safety, and regulatory standards
About You

We're looking for someone who is both technically strong and commercially aware. You'll need to be confident dealing with clients and comfortable presenting in a professional setting.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Degree in materials science, core science(s), or mathematics
  • Experience with physical testing techniques
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Proven customer-facing experience
  • Good computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Willingness to travel when required
Desirable
  • Completion (or working towards) relevant industry training programmes
  • Experience within the footwear or materials testing industry
  • Exposure to sales, marketing, or business development activities
  • Full, clean driving licence
