Job description
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of and ability to program and commission the T300/Gemini RTU's in addition to any approved remote-control equipment that is developed in the future.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of and ability to program and commission the RL27 & RL38 pole mounted switch inclusive of the application of detection settings to the F.P.I & sectionaliser options.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of and ability to program and commission the Nulec U series auto-re-closers inclusive of the application of protection settings.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of secondary switchgear protection relays such as Sepam S40, VIP 400 and Fanox in addition to any developed and approved in future.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of the maintenance and workshop commissioning of Voltage Regulators and CL7 controllers.
  • Be able to interpret and apply protection and detection settings to the full range of equipment supplied to NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) including CCP's (Connection Control Panels).
  • Communicate effectively and be able to assist with queries from external suppliers and other departments across NGED including Network Design, Policy, Telecoms and Operations i.e. Planners, Technicians and Engineering Specialists.
  • Take an active part in training of staff and apprentices as required.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of all ST's relating to the Midlands Plant Centre procedures.

    You are required to have grade A-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects.

In addition, you must hold a minimum of City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and if not already attained will be required to undertake Level 3. You must be able to work on own initiative as part of a small team and be capable of making on the spot decisions as required. You will need good communications skills, a flexible attitude and be able to cope in pressured situations often working to tight deadlines.
