As a Technician within the Networks and Connectivity team, you'll play an active role in supporting and contributing to a range of ongoing projects. Your hands‑on involvement will not only help drive progress but also bring fresh perspectives to how we approach and utilise technology. By sharing new ideas and exploring innovative solutions, you'll help us enhance our infrastructure, improve efficiency, and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and ongoing support of enterprise‑class networking and connectivity solutions, ensuring robust and reliable access to digital services across the borough.

They will actively contribute to the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies, helping to shape forward‑thinking solutions that enhance user experience and drive digital transformation.

Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, they will support the rollout of innovative infrastructure that enables seamless connectivity, empowering users to access essential digital services wherever they are.

A network technician provides 2nd line IT support and helps resolve service requests across their technical area, including system maintenance, configuration, and monitoring. They assist with the delivery of small‑scale technical projects to build experience and contribute to larger team initiatives. Their role also includes installing new technologies, producing technical documentation, and supporting continuous service improvement.

The successful candidate

In addition to supporting core networking responsibilities, the Technician will contribute to service improvement initiatives, assist with technical documentation, and support the installation and configuration of new technologies. They will also collaborate with stakeholders to ensure infrastructure solutions meet user needs and align with the council's digital transformation goals.

The ideal candidate will have experience in 2nd line IT support, system monitoring, and configuration, with a proactive approach to learning and development. While technical expertise is essential, the role also offers opportunities to grow skills in emerging technologies, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement.
