Colchester Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Technician in Trowel Trades. We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and has a passion for supporting hands on learning.

As the Technician in Trowel Trades, you will play a key part in maintaining a safe and well equipped classroom, ensuring all materials, tools, and resources are ready for learners to use. You’ll also be working closely with the teaching staff, helping create a safe and professional environment where students are able to learn and develop their skills and knowledge.

About the Role
  • Support teaching staff and students across all aspects of the Trowel Trades curriculum.
  • Prepare and organise materials efficiently to ensure lessons run smoothly.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and professional workshop spaces.
  • Monitor and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery, reporting any faults promptly.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and always promote best practice.
  • Keep your professional skills up to date and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Promote and uphold the College’s values, including Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Undertake any other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications
  • Level 2 Trowel Trades Related Qualification

  • Practical industrial experience within a Trowel related trade.
  • Experience with working effectively as part of a team.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety at Work and related issues.
  • Able to use emails and access mandatory training via ILT.
  • An understanding of ‘Safeguarding’ and its importance within the College.
