Job summary

Cheshire College South and West in Crewe is seeking a Technician in Building Services to support the Electrical, Brickwork, Carpentry, and Joinery curriculum. The role is based at the Crewe Campus and requires hands-on technical assistance in sessions, demonstrations, and practical activities.

You will prepare sessions, maintain equipment, carry out risk assessments, and help deliver a high-quality learning environment for learners, visitors and staff.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English grade C/4+ or equivalent.
• Level 2 in a relevant Building Services discipline.
• IOSH qualification or willingness to work towards.
• First aid certificate or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sessions, workshop equipment and materials for Building Services curriculum.
• Provide technical support within the Construction department.
• Develop and construct activities for use in practical sessions.
• Assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations and trials.
• Maintain materials and equipment and carry out risk assessments.

We are seeking a Technician in Building Services to join our team, the role will be based at our Crewe Campus.

This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Technician to support in the provision of a quality support service for learners, visitors, customers and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• To prepare sessions, workshop equipment and materials within the Building Services (Electrical, Brickwork, Carpentry, Joinery) curriculum area;
• To provide technical support within the Construction department;
• Develop and construct activities for use in practical sessions;
• Assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations and trialling practical activities;
• Maintain materials and equipment in the area; and
• Carry out risk assessments for technical activities.

Key Person Specification Requirements

• Level 2 (or equivalent) in relevant discipline;
• GCSE Grade C (4/5) Maths and English;
• IOSH qualification (or equivalent) or willingness to work towards;
• Valid first aid certificateor willingness to work towards;
• Proven experience of working in a Building Services (Electrical, Brickwork, Carpentry, Joinery) environment;
• Excellent organisational skills; and
• Enhanced DBS check.
