UTAC in Leyland, UK is seeking a Vehicle Technician with maintenance and diagnostic background to support driveline testing for motorsport and automotive customers. You will install and monitor samples, assist with basic automation, and ensure safety and compliance in a 24/7 test environment.

The role requires a time-served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent, manual handling capability, a full UK driving licence, and willingness to travel as needed.

Job Description

Are you a vehicle technician? Do you have vehicle maintenance and diagnostic experience? If you fancy a change of scene, would like to work on next generation product, and would you like to learn some new skills too, then why not come and work with us at UTAC?

We have a great opportunity for you to further develop and expand your experience and skills in a world class testing environment, supported by an experienced competent team of engineers and technicians.

Your role will be to support our test facility with the delivery of driveline product performance and durability testing for our motorsport, automotive and commercial vehicle customers. This service operates on a 24/7 basis to meet our customer’s requirements.

Responsibilities will include test sample (transmissions, axles, e-Machines and electric-drive-units) installation and rig set ups, the monitoring of samples in test, daily checks and servicing of the samples and equipment. We will provide you with training as required.

Role & Responsibilities

• Prepare and install samples (transmission and electric-drive-units) on test rigs.
• Complete basic Test Automation Setup and Configuration – training will be provided.
• Follow Test and Operational derived Risk Assessments.
• Follow safe Working Procedures at all times
• Day to day maintenance and housekeeping of Facilities
• Providebasic level of Facility breakdown diagnostics and resolution.
• Act in accordance with the behaviours for UTAC staff at all times

Experience

• Experience in a testlaboratory, or automotive vehicle repair, or heavy truck repair and maintenance
• EV and / orHV experience (desirable not essential)
• Driveline testing (desirable not essential)
• Basic software skills would be an advantage
• An understanding of CANand associated tools (desirable not essential)

Skills

• Proficient with mechanical assembly
• Able to complete basic electrical wiring
• Ability to read and understand schematics and engineering drawings - training will be provided
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer-based file structures
• Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Good organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills

Other

• The successful candidate is required to have manual handling experience of a load approx. 25kg activities will include bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity
• Working pattern: Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 16:30 (40 hours per week)
• Flexibility to travel as and when required
• Full UK driving licence
• Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check
• NOTE: This position is based on site in Leyland, Lancashire
