An exciting opportunity for skilled Mechanical and Electrical Technicians to join a close-knit team at a modern depot in Edinburgh. This permanent role involves maintaining and repairing rolling stock—rail vehicles—using both mechanical and electrical expertise.

Role & Responsibilities

• Mechanical and electrical repairs, including stripping and re-fitting components
• Maintenance of underframe and engine components
• Electrical testing and fault diagnosis
• Scheduled vehicle checks and examinations
• Ensuring all work aligns with production timelines and safety standards

The Ideal Candidate

We\'re looking for someone with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance, who thrives in a dynamic, shift-based environment. You\'ll be confident in fault finding and capable of working across both mechanical and electrical systems.

Essential Requirements

• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or higher) in an engineering discipline
• Proven experience in engine and unit maintenance
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
• Full UK driving licence
• Adaptable and flexible with a proactive approach
• Ability to interpret technical documentation (e.g., Vehicle Maintenance Instructions)
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Clear and effective communication skills

Desirable Skills

• Experience in fault diagnosis using a variety of diagnostic tools
• Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical schematics
• Electrically biased or strong electrical appreciation
• Background in the armed forces or experience working with rolling stock
