Job summary

Adler and Allan Group in the UK is seeking a Protective Coatings Technician based in Droitwich, with nationwide travel five days per week. This permanent, full-time role offers a competitive salary and benefits.

You will spray apply polyurea and operate coating trailers, maintain RAMS documentation, perform vehicle checks, and support civils and remediation projects while upholding health and safety standards. You must be willing to travel nationwide and work away regularly.

Qualifications

  • Previous spray application experience would be advantageous.
  • The successful candidate must possess knowledge and experience of completing RAMS documentation.
  • Experience of operating plant would be a major advantage.
  • Previous experience in a similar role/environment would be highly advantageous.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the depot.
  • Must be willing to work away on a regular basis.
  • Must be a great team member and capable of supporting colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Operate coating equipment and spray application processes.
  • Carry out vehicle checks and ensure equipment is stocked for works.
  • Clean up spills or fly tips in various environments and assist with site duties.
  • Support Civils, ground works, construction and remediation projects.
  • Maintain safety standards and RAMS documentation.
  • Liaise with customers on site about ongoing works and services.
  • Complete all works paperwork and submit to supervision on time.

The protective coatings technician will undertake duties associated to our protective coating’s services, included but not limited to spray application of polyurea, working towards sole responsibility for running the equipment within the coating trailers. Various other coating application techniques are carried out on an adhoc basis including spray applied vinyl esters in chemical locations, dual layer resin tank lining techniques and hand applied protective coatings where applicable.

The protective coatings technician at times will also be required to provide additional support associated with the clean-up of any spill / fly tip in a variety of environments using resource and equipment. Amongst various other services offered from the depot.

More about the role:

  • Operating Company vehicles which the protective coatings technician is suitably qualified to operate.
  • Responsibility for ensuring all vehicle checks are undertaken prior to commencing any works. It is the protective coatings technicians responsibility for ensuring all required equipment is located and stored on the allocated vehicle for the pursuance of works.
  • Reporting any vehicle defects to supervision as soon as identified.
  • To support the protective coatings team with the application of associated materials in a variety of environments, providing primary, secondary, or tertiary containment.
  • To clean up, in an efficient, safe, and professional manner, any spill / fly tip as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of Civils, ground works, construction, and remediation projects.
  • Ensure all uplifting and offloading of product and materials is undertaken in the correct and compliant manner with high regard for health and safety and correct working practices.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the security of all Company vehicles and equipment. This includes ensuring all equipment is fit for purpose and used in the correct manner.
  • Works to be carried out in accordance with health and safety to include provided RAMS documentation. The protective coatings technician is required to use knowledge and experience to contribute to the pursuance of works and meet customer demand and satisfy works.
  • Responsibility for cleaning all plant and equipment post job. The protective coatings technicians will also be responsible for identifying repair work required. This includes ensuring the depot, yard area and office facility is clean and tidy.
  • Liaison with customers on site to discuss on-going works and further services of the Company.
  • Completion of all works paperwork and submission in a timely manner to divisional supervision.
  • Liaison with supervision regarding all works and recommending improvements or possible opportunities.
  • Any other duties as designated by management for which the protective coatings technician is suitably trained and capable of doing.
Qualifications

About you:

  • Previous spray application experience would be advantageous, whether protective or cosmetic
  • The successful candidate must possess knowledge and experience of completing RAMS documentation.
  • Experience of operating plant would be a major advantage.
  • Previous experience of operating in a similar role / environment would be highly advantageous.
  • A willingness to work in an environment of change, dealing with emergency works is essential.
  • Due to the nature of the role and the response duties, a flexible approach to working hours, travel and working days is required.
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the depot.
  • Must be willing to work away on a regular basis
  • Must be a great team member, capable of supporting colleagues in challenging times.
  • This position includes Nationwide travel.
