You will collaborate with design, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure accurate documents supporting global manufacturing. Were looking for a Specifications Technologist to join a long-established, highly experienced design team playing a vital role in transforming product concepts into the specification packs that keep production moving across our international factory network.
This is a hands-on, detail-driven role where your documentation becomes the blueprint for global manufacturing. Without your specs, production cant begin so your work will truly shape the success and safety of every product we launch.
As our Specifications Technologist, youll own the creation of all product specification materials, ensuring every detail from materials and construction to compliance and labelling is accurate, accessible, and ready for our factories (primarily in China) to action.
Create, update, and manage detailed specification documents in Adobe Creative Suite, covering product appearance, materials, packaging, and compliance labelling.
Produce instruction manuals, product labels, and servicing guides that meet international safety standards.
Generate illustrations and photography for manuals and technical reports.
Develop spare parts and after-sales documentation.
Work closely with the Product Compliance Manager to ensure all documentation meets global safety and regulatory requirements across multiple markets.
Support the Quality Manager with inspections, quality control paperwork, and Bills of Materials for environmental reporting.
Contribute to our evolving designer-focused product compliance guide.
Maintain and refine documentation standards and control processes across the design, compliance, and quality functions.
Manage the flow and traceability of technical documents between UK teams and overseas factories.
Keep our technical change control systems accurate, organised, and always up to date.
Partner closely with hardware and fabric designers, engineers, and QA teams to gather information and translate it into clear, usable documents.
Provide timely responses to internal and external requests for specifications.
Support project timelines by ensuring documentation is delivered accurately and on schedule.
Proven experience producing technical product documentation (spec sheets, manuals, labels).
Familiarity with 2D technical drawing and graphical illustration.
Experience working with design teams and communicating product requirements to manufacturers.
Exposure to global supply chains, ideally with Far Eastern suppliers.
Understanding of safety, compliance, hardware, and fabric terminology.
A detail-oriented, process-driven mindset with the confidence to champion best practice.
