Position Overview

Luna Innovations is the global leader in fiber optic sensing, focused on solving some of the world’s most complex measurement challenges across multiple industries.

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce user‑centric technical documentation and drawings that support the design, development, implementation and use of DAS and DTS products and systems. This role bridges the gap between complex technical concepts and user understanding, ensuring consistency, compliance, and clarity across all documentation deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, write, and maintain high‑quality documentation and drawings including external project documentation and internal user guides, technical specifications, installation manuals, etc. for DAS and DTS products and systems
  • Collaborate with subject‑matter experts (SMEs), engineers, operations & delivery and product teams to gather technical information and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Review and edit documentation to maintain consistency, tone, and adherence to documentation and industry standards
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and readable content tailored to the target audience
  • Maintain version control and documentation lifecycle, ensuring timely updates aligned with product releases or system changes
  • Support the development of templates and style guides to standardize documentation across teams
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of knowledge base articles, FAQs, and online help systems
Qualifications
  • BEng or MEng in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3–5 years professional experience in a technical writing or engineering role within a technology, engineering, or software development environment
  • Demonstrated experience in producing technical documentation for both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Prior experience working in a cross‑functional engineering environment (e.g., R&D, manufacturing, product development)
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar) for referencing designs and producing documentation visuals is essential
Additional desired knowledge
  • Experience working in compliance‑driven industries (e.g., Oil and Gas, aerospace, medical devices, automotive, industrial machinery) is advantageous
  • Experience working with ADNOC Projects in a FEED / EPC capacity is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and / or electrical engineering principles, product lifecycle, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to interpret and work with technical content, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor content for varying technical audiences
  • Experience with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with version control systems and issue‑tracking tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a methodical and detail‑oriented approach
