Job summary

The Corn Exchange Newbury is seeking a Technical Trainee to join the busy technical team across its venues in Newbury. You will gain hands-on experience supporting shows, learning about sound, lighting and staging for live events, with a mix of daytime, evenings and weekend shifts.

No prior technical experience is required, just a curiosity about backstage work and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Training will be provided, with duties spanning both theatre and cinema operations.

Qualifications

• Willingness to learn and try new tasks.
• Positive outlook and can-do attitude.
• Trustworthy and reliable; able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist technical team with load-ins, get-outs and show operations.
• Assist rigging and operating lighting and sound equipment.
• Support seating and staging layout changes in all venues.
• Learn programming and scheduling of films in the cinema.
• Act as show crew on stage or follow spot for pantomime run.
