Technical Support Officer

Maldon District Council

Temporary, Full Time

£25.00 per hour (umbrella)

Location: Maldon

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Maldon District Council to recruit a temporary Technical Support Officer for Development Management for an initial 3-month temporary contract.

Please note that this role requires onsite presence for 1-2 days a week at the Council Offices.

The Opportunity

To assist in providing an efficient and effective service delivery to users of the Development Management service and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application and data management: Receive, process, and input data from planning applications and appeal cases into relevant systems. Maintain and update databases to ensure information is accurate and current.
  • Communication and liaison: Serve as a point of contact for the public, agents, and internal departments, responding to queries via phone and email.
  • Document and file management: Create and maintain digital filing systems. Send templated letters, reports, and other documents.
The Experience you will bring
  • Previous experience of working in a support role in Development Management and/or Building Control
  • Knowledge and experience with Idox and Civica systems
  • ICT skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel and Adobe
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise and manage time
  • Self‑motivated and able to work in a team in a hybrid environment
Desirable requirements
  • Previously worked in other departments (other than DM/BC) in a local authority
