We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Services Support Manager to join our Member Services business unit. This is a key operational role, reporting directly to the Director of Technical Policy and Services, focused on enhancing efficiency, governance, and team effectiveness. The Support Manager will work closely with Railpen’s Technical Policy & Services team and will coordinate essential team processes, support governance forums, and drive improvements in operational delivery. This is a permanent role based in Darlington and offers hybrid working.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

The role

As the Technical Services Support Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth running of the Technical Policy & Services team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collating and analysing data on casework and team performance to identify trends and areas for operational improvement.

  • Managing team mailboxes, highlighting key actions, and ensuring effective communication and ownership of queries.

  • Ensuring colleagues comply with required tasks.

  • Promoting awareness of team priorities and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Supporting governance forums by organising meetings, preparing papers, tracking actions, and maintaining key documentation.

  • Organising and supporting meetings for the Director of Technical Policy and Services and team managers, including agenda preparation, action tracking, and documentation.

  • Coordinating with other internal teams on communications, service, and document management.

  • Assisting with non-pensions technical tasks, such as casework management and invoicing, and supporting the wider team as required.

The role has no direct reports but is generally responsible for supporting the management of the Technical Policy & Services team. As such, the role plays an important part in the operation of an effective technical services function.

The person

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual with experience in operational support, administration and team coordination. You will have:

Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders.
