Job summary

SoCode Recruitment is seeking a technically curious Customer Support Engineer in Cambridge to provide first-line support across a hardware/software product line used in defence, government and telecom sectors.

You will diagnose issues, explain complex technical concepts to customers, develop technical documentation and work closely with engineering to feed back on recurring problems. Exposure to Linux and networking, plus hands-on hardware/software experience, is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Solid grounding in RF fundamentals.
  • Basic exposure to Linux and networking.
  • Experience communicating technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Prior support or helpdesk experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support to customers on hardware/software products.
  • Explain complex technical issues and solutions clearly to customers.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Review and develop technical documentation for end users.
  • Collaborate with engineering to feedback recurring or complex issues.

We're supporting an innovative technology company operating in the defence, government and telecom sectors, currently going through a period of strong growth. They're looking for a technically sound Customer Support Engineer to join their Cambridge team, providing first-line support across a product line that spans specialist hardware and software.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing first-line technical support to customers on an industry leading hardware/software product line, covering signal and sensor technology, analysis tooling, and network diagnostics.
  • Explaining complex technical issues and solutions clearly to customers.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues first-hand, escalating where necessary.
  • Reviewing and developing technical documentation.
  • Working closely with engineering teams to feed back on recurring or complex issues.

What we're looking for:

  • Solid grounding in RF fundamentals.
  • A curious mindset with a passion for technology (this could be shown through employment or hobbies)
  • Basic exposure to Linux and networking.
  • Comfortable working hands-on with both hardware and software.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail for non-technical audiences.
  • Prior support or helpdesk experience. desirable
