FT Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Support Engineer to join one of our valued clients based in Tamworth. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic technical environment supporting innovative products exported globally.

Job Overview

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will provide professional pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support to external customers, primarily in writing but also via phone and in person. You'll also work closely with internal teams to resolve technical issues in production and testing environments.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support (Primary)
  • Deliver prompt and effective technical support to customers, distributors, and agents.
  • Handle warranty issues, including managing customer returns and liaising with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve product‑related queries and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Create and distribute technical bulletins to communicate updates and changes in products.
Production Support (Secondary)
  • Support the production line by resolving electrical, programming, mechanical, and quality‑related issues.
  • Interpret PLC ladder logic, ST (Structured Text), wiring diagrams, and follow internal wiring guides.
  • Conduct non‑standard and R&D chamber testing.
  • Provide temporary cover for Quality Inspector, performing product audits before dispatch.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI systems (preferably Schneider, Ladder Logic, and ST).
  • Solid electro‑mechanical engineering background.
  • Excellent understanding of assembly and fitting techniques.
  • Experience in fault finding and problem‑solving in technical environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with international customers (English may not be their first language).
  • Methodical, organized, and able to manage priorities under pressure.
  • Familiarity with quality control systems and standards.
