Technical Support Chemist (Hazardous Waste Treatment)

Our client is one of the UK's leading waste and resource management companies, with over 200 facilities and 4,200 employees across the UK. A vacancy currently exists for a Technical Support Chemist to provide technical support to the company's Waste Treatment Division (WTD) clients and customers. You will assist with the listing, segregation, labelling, collection, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, as well as support the Commercial Team with technical assessments and documentation.

Main Duties
  • Visiting new and existing customers to assist with the listing, segregation, labelling, collection, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Supporting WTD clients by ensuring chemical waste is safely transported within current legislation
  • Preparing accurate transport documentation and labels
  • Assisting WTD drivers and the Sales Team as required
  • Maintaining and developing positive client relationships
  • Assessing sales enquiries and preparing data for invoicing
  • Ensuring all activities promote a positive image of the company and comply with procedures and policies
Candidate Requirements
  • A degree in Chemistry or a related subject
  • Full, clean driving licence and licence to drive a 7.5T vehicle or under
  • ADR Training and experience of segregating and transporting chemicals (advantageous)
  • Confident in using MS Office suite
  • Ability to work both as part of a small team and independently
  • Customer-focused, with strong communication skills at all levels
  • Flexible attitude to work, with availability for overtime at short notice
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to use own initiative
  • Willingness to complete all required training and competency modules

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working five days per week. Work hours are 40 hours per week, typically 08:00–17:00. Alternative shifts: 07:00–16:00 or 08:30–17:30 for cover.
