Mountjoy Ltd is contracted to the Isle of Wight Council, Vectis Housing Association, RNLI and other clients to provide the day-to-day repairs, quoted works, and planned preventative maintenance to various buildings across the Isle of Wight.
We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic Technical Supervisor with a can-do attitude and flexible approach. Candidates must have relevant trade skills and qualifications with additional experience in Maintenance or Facilities Management.
You will be accountable for day-to-day reactive repairs. Working alongside and closely with the Lead Supervisor and Service Manager to assist with in-progress job checks and materials sourcing. The role includes managing operatives to ensure we are carrying out the correct repair, in a timely manner to the best standard. It will also include auditing our work by carrying out monthly operative observations looking at both H&S and quality of work.
Key Responsibilities
- To forge strong working relationships with Client Representatives and develop new relationships across a breadth of roles within the client teams.
- Work closely and communicate well with the Service Manager, building a strong relationship, being united and the key link between resourcing and trades.
- Assist in compliance and Mountjoy 6-monthly H&S contract audits.
- Assist in carrying out operative observations, quality and equipment checks as required.
- Reinforce the Health and Safety culture by ensuring that company practices and policies are being followed and adhered to by you and others on site.
- Escalate to the SHEQ Team / Service Manager or Lead Supervisor any serious events or occurrences that need to be addressed urgently and highlight any reoccurring issues that could affect service delivery and performance if not addressed.
- Report any accidents, incident and near misses, ensuring these are completed in line with company policy and in a professional and timely manner.
- If required carry out accident, incident, and near miss investigations, ensuring these are completed in a professional and timely manner.
- Scope and survey Reactive, Bathrooms and Kitchens work providing clear detail so job can be coded up using Schedule of Rates
- Provide escalation as part of an out of hours service, attending site where requested.
- Any other task as appropriate assigned by the Contract Manager or Supervisor.
- Ensure operatives use their vehicles safely, that they are maintained, kept clean and tidy. Report accidents and damage when it occurs.
- Be accountable for the jobs you manage, supporting the resourcing team when pulled upon to deal with technical queries or general issues.
- As required support with scoping and surveying work such as Voids, Bathrooms and Kitchens providing clear details so job can be coded up using Schedule of Rates.
- Ensure work that you are accountable for is monitored through to completion, following scope and to great standard.
- Treat tenants with respect, demonstrating a courteous manner, escalating if an issue cannot be resolved to the Lead Supervisor or Contracts Manager.
- Reinforce the Health and Safety culture by ensuring that company practices and policies are being followed and adhered to by you and others in the field, undertaking observations, highlighting issues and trends as they occur.

Qualification Required
- A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Carpentry.
- Must be competent in two other secondary skills.
- Full current driving license.
- A DBS check is required before commencement of role.
- Scaffold Inspector course (Desirable)
- City & Guilds Level 3 award in Fire Door Inspection or Equivalent (Desirable)
Experience Required
- Over 5 years experience of working in a Building Maintenance environment across multiple trades, ideally with residential repairs and project work.
- Managing the delivery of responsive maintenance and repairs and planned works.
- Experience preferred in UPVC repairs and maintenance (doors and windows) Kitchen and/or bathroom installations 1st & 2nd Fix.
- Fire-door installation and awareness of associated regulations.
- Being competent within your sphere of expertise.
- Have experience using MS Office (Desirable).
- Have experience using Outlook. (Desirable)
