Job summary

Hamilton Barnes Associates Limited is seeking a senior infrastructure architect to design and own a landmark GPU deployment. You will specify cluster topology, networking, and power/cooling for a next-generation B300 system, with cost modelling for the full build.

This role partners with board-level stakeholders in a fast-moving investment platform, translating technical decisions into commercial terms and guiding vendor negotiations. DOE bonus applies.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in infrastructure/solutions architecture with GPU/HPC clustering experience.
• Hands-on GPU/HPC cluster design, data centre infrastructure, and power/cooling planning.
• Strong ability to translate technical details into commercial costing narratives.

Responsibilities

• Specify and design GPU cluster architecture for large-scale B300 deployment across compute, networking, storage, and interconnect.
• Produce detailed costing models for cluster builds including hardware, data centre, power and OPEX.
• Evaluate data centre/colocation partners capable of supporting high-density GPU racks.
• Define networking topology (InfiniBand/Ethernet) for distributed training and inference workloads.
• Liaise with vendors/OEMs and data centres to validate specs and negotiate terms.
• Produce technical documentation and board-level summaries translating infra decisions into commercial terms.
• Advise on power, cooling, and rack density requirements for next-gen GPU deployments.

A venture-backed investment firm is standing up a substantial GPU compute capability, having just confirmed a large-scale order of next-generation B300 GPUs. This is a rare opportunity to architect large-scale AI infrastructure from the ground up, owning cluster specification and costing for a major hardware deployment rather than inheriting someone else's design decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Specify and design GPU cluster architecture for a large-scale B300 deployment, covering compute, networking, storage and interconnect
• Produce detailed costing models for cluster builds, including hardware, data centre, power and ongoing operational expenditure
• Evaluate and recommend data centre/colocation partners capable of supporting high-density GPU racks
• Define networking topology (InfiniBand/Ethernet fabric) to optimise for distributed training and inference workloads
• Liaise with hardware vendors, OEMs and data centre providers to validate specifications and negotiate technical terms
• Produce technical documentation and board-level summaries translating complex infrastructure decisions into commercial terms
• Advise on power, cooling, and rack density requirements specific to next-generation GPU deployments

Skills/Must have:

• Experience: 7+ years in infrastructure/solutions architecture, with direct experience specifying GPU or HPC clusters at scale
• Core Tech/Domain: Deep hands-on knowledge of GPU hardware (NVIDIA H100/H200/B200/B300 class systems), server/rack design, and data centre infrastructure
• Methodology/Protocols: Strong grasp of InfiniBand/RDMA networking, NVLink/NVSwitch topologies, and cluster interconnect design for distributed compute workloads
• Soft Skills: Confident operating at boardroom level, able to translate deep technical detail into commercial costing narratives; comfortable owning ambiguous, high-stakes decisions with minimal oversight

Nice to haves:

• Experience with liquid cooling/high-density rack deployments
• Prior work with hyperscalers, neo-clouds, or GPU-as-a-service providers
• Familiarity with NVIDIA reference architectures (e.g. DGX SuperPOD)
• Vendor relationships with NVIDIA, Dell, Supermicro, or major colocation providers

Salary:

• £110,000-£150,000 base (DOE) + performance bonus
