Job Title: Technical Services Specialist

Location: RAF Coningsby - Onsite - Shifts

Salary: £38,899

What you’ll be doing
  • The provision of On-Aircraft technical support and knowledge as part of the JAS (Joint Avionic Service) in order to achieve the Typhoon Total Availability enterprise (TyTAN) commitments, increasing Aircraft/Asset availability and reducing LRI No Fault Found Rates (NFF)
  • Daily liaison with ML1/2 engineering communities to ensure that the Technical support resource is prioritised in order to meet the deliverable timescales on current issues to expedite the recovery of aircraft to maximise the availability of Typhoon aircraft
  • Identification of potential end user training opportunities/deficiencies – liaising with the relevant department (Training Cell/Typhoon Training Flight). Provide knowledge transfer via OJT (On job training) and ‘Industry Best Practice and support to In-depth System knowledge briefs as required
  • Support the JAS project to reduce No Fault Found (NFFs) LRI’s(Line replaceable Item) returning to OEM(Originating equipment manufacturer) . Evaluating technical data to highlight potential root cause such as deficiencies with Approved data, training and or test equipment
  • Working closely with operators, supervision, system design engineers, equipment suppliers, quality controllers and management, both Industry and MOD
  • Pilot de-briefs technical investigation and the provision of effective resolution of system faults
Your skills and experiences
Essential
  • The ability to monitor and interpret system performance to identify trends, investigate root cause and drive improvement
  • Have excellent system fault diagnosis skills; provide interpretation of test results
  • Be able to give sound technical advice to the product end user and depth maintenance environments at all levels
  • Typhoon specific system course/modular typhoon course (avionic/fuel/etc)
  • Experience with Avionics Biased experience (Ideally at Supervisor Level) on the Typhoon platform
  • HNC (or equivalent experience) in Aerospace Engineering
Desirable
  • Experience and understanding of Engineering systems such as; trilogy View, ESS, Resolve
  • Knowledge of the working practices of the RAF and UK MoD

The Technical Support Engineer Team

The Technical Support Engineering Team provides deep technical knowledge to help the military maintenance community diagnose and resolve issues across the Typhoon platform. Working collaboratively across BAE Systems and Leonardo, the team delivers advanced fault diagnostics, shares industry best practice, provides specialist data interpretation, and supports investigations to reduce No Fault Found (NFF) events.

With engineers based at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth, the team supports RAF deployments and works closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
