Location: Zone 1 - London-based (London office)
Contract Type: Permanent

We are currently seeking a Senior Technical Services Manager to oversee and lead the full lifecycle of building services (MEP) for a distinguished London-based interiors and fit-out business. You will take responsibility from initial enquiry and tendering, through design and pre-construction, to on-site delivery, commissioning and handover—ensuring that all technical, regulatory and commercial demands are fully met across multiple projects.

You will work closely with senior leadership, project teams, clients, subcontractors and designers within a dynamic environment, delivering high-quality interiors projects which align with the business's standards, brand and growth ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of MEP services across the business's interior fit-out portfolio, from bid stage through to project completion.
  • Support the bidding and tendering phase: review tender documentation, contribute the engineering services element of returns, attend pre-qualification and tender meetings and site visits.
  • Coordinate all pre-construction activities for services subcontractors including surveys, validations, design development and scope finalisation.
  • Prepare scopes of works (using PDF mark-up or equivalent tools) to ensure common baseline for contractor/M&E subcontractor pricing.
  • Review base-build information or survey data to determine the most cost-effective and technically robust scope for turnkey proposals.
  • Contribute to value engineering exercises to ensure that technical solutions are efficient, effective and aligned with the business's commercial parameters.
  • Vet and propose specialist M&E subcontractors, systems and manufacturers, in line with brand, buildability and quality criteria.
  • Review designers' and contractors' drawings for completeness, compliance with contract requirements, building regulations, British Standards and design intent.
  • Conduct regular engineering services meetings and produce status reports to senior stakeholders and project teams.
  • \
  • Inspect and review subcontractor installations on-site to verify compliance with the design intent, relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Chair meetings as required with clients, design teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decisions.
  • Provide technical leadership in planning and executing building services commissioning and the handover of all close-out documentation.
  • Maintain balanced knowledge across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, recognising the dual nature of responsibilities in the interior fit-out context.
Key Behaviours & Attributes
  • Provide technical support to other business departments (commercial, design, procurement) to facilitate smooth coordination with services subcontractors and project teams.
  • Take ownership and drive key services decisions around risk assessments, strategic brief development, procurement strategy and building commissioning.
  • Manage, coordinate and control the services elements of projects to ensure deliverables are completed within agreed budget, time and quality parameters.
  • Mentor and develop technical colleagues, helping grow capability across the business's London office.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills: strong communication, persuasion, influence and negotiation with clients, internal teams and supply chain.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset focussed on satisfying client requirements and delivering projects to a high standard.
  • Analytical and problem-solving orientation, able to handle conflict, delays or changes and maintain momentum.
  • Effective delegation and team-working skills, collaborating with construction, commercial, planning, design and project management functions.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced fit-out/interiors environment and maintaining clear decision-making under pressure.
Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience leading MEP/technical services within large-scale interior fit-out or refurbishment projects.
  • Balanced technical knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, with strong understanding of commissioning and handover processes.
  • Experience in pre-construction (design coordination, surveys, validation) and on-site delivery phases.
  • Degree or equivalent in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or strong equivalent practical experience).
  • Excellent knowledge of building regulations, British Standards, design compliance and industry best practice.
  • Commercially aware – able to manage subcontractor relationships, cost control and technical risk.
  • Health & Safety certification (e.g., SMSTS or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with relevant software tools (AutoCAD or similar, PDF mark-up, planning/programme tools).
What's on Offer
  • An excellent salary package of up to £95,000 plus short-term and long-term incentives, aligned with performance.
  • Bonus scheme
  • Private healthcare
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • 22 days annual leave + bank holidays + Christmas shutdown.
  • The chance to join a growing London-based interior services business, shaping the technical services offering and influencing high-profile fit-out projects.
  • A collaborative and energetic working environment, offering autonomy and visible impact within the business.
  • Clear progression opportunities and professional development support, especially for technical and leadership growth.
