Job summary

A leading facilities management firm in Exeter is seeking a skilled professional to oversee M&E contractors and ensure high standards in building services. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing external contractors, knowledge of health & safety compliance, and strong organizational skills. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to energy-saving initiatives and manage infrastructure projects effectively.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to‑day activities of M&E contractors and subcontractors, ensuring all reactive and planned works are completed to a high standard.
  • Act as the interface between internal stakeholders and the external service delivery team.
  • Conduct regular building inspections and maintain asset registers.
  • Monitor performance standards, support continuous improvement, and contribute to the long‑term planning of infrastructure services.
  • Assist in statutory compliance, risk management, and document administration.
  • Support the implementation of energy‑saving and smart‑building initiatives.
  • Assist in the management of infrastructure projects, office moves, and refurbishments.
  • Oversee contract expenditure, purchase orders, and invoicing to maintain financial transparency.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are met and maintained.
What Our Client is Looking For
  • Proven experience managing M&E systems and building services in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance practices.
  • Experience working with and managing external contractors and suppliers.
  • Strong organisational skills, the ability to multitask, and a hands‑on, results‑driven attitude.
  • Good knowledge of building systems, including BMS and lighting controls.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent issues outside of standard working hours.
Qualifications & Skills
  • A‑Level qualifications (or equivalent)
  • HND or higher in a Mechanical and / or Electrical discipline
  • IOSH and / or NEBOSH qualifications desirable
  • Familiarity with MS Office, CAD, and reading technical drawings
  • Experience in project management and infrastructure upgrades is a plus
