Technical Sales Manager

MetroRod Ltd, Northampton, Northamptonshire, nn1 1bf. Permanent, full time, NEWREMOTE.

Metro Rod & Metro Plumb — Full time permanent, remotely based. Salary up to £48,000 DOE + commission.

Metro Rod works with the likes of Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonalds, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and its sister company Metro Plumb are leading providers of drain clearance and maintenance services delivered on a largely reactive basis. Our services are provided by over 60 franchisees covering the UK. In the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands we also operate Willow Pumps and Filta, focused on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. We provide a one‑stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.

What does it entail?

Your daily tasks will involve supporting franchisees and the sales team in scoping, pricing, winning, and executing drainage projects. With your background in drainage & pumps and exceptional communication skills, you'll ensure every project meets and exceeds client expectations. You will uncover and develop opportunities, supporting the sales function that drives business growth, backed by strong knowledge of the AMP cycles of UK water companies.

This role involves regular travel across the UK and to our Support Centre in Macclesfield.

What do we look for?
  • Outstanding background in drainage operations (survey, maintenance, rehabilitation, pumping systems and treatment plants).
  • Experience of sales support, project scoping, or technical consultancy.
  • Ability to run projects end‑to‑end, from client scoping through to delivery.
  • Hands‑on approach, willing to get involved practically where needed.
  • Happy to travel extensively – approximately 3 days per week.
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety, compliance standards and drainage law.
  • Appreciates the value of exceptional customer service and owning a challenge through to resolution.
  • Motivation to learn and develop.
  • Collaborative approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, engaging effectively with all levels – from site teams to senior leadership.
