As our new Technical Sales Engineer, you'll combine your technical expertise with a commercial mindset to help our customers find the right solutions for their manufacturing and engineering challenges. With a particular focus on cutting tools and associated applications, you'll work directly with customers to understand their operations, identify opportunities and deliver technical solutions that improve performance and add real value.

Working alongside our Sales teams and wider technical specialists, you'll support both existing and prospective customers through product recommendations, demonstrations, trials and technical advice. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys being customer‑facing and wants to use their technical knowledge to influence solutions, develop relationships and drive commercial growth.

Some of your key responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and application support to customers, recommending cutting tools and solutions that meet their operational requirements.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, supporting the growth of cutting tool sales across your territory.
  • Build strong relationships with existing customers, becoming a trusted technical partner and identifying opportunities to add further value.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, trials and technical presentations, clearly communicating the benefits and applications of our solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales colleagues and technical specialists to develop customer opportunities and deliver commercially effective solutions.
  • Analyse customer requirements, sales trends and performance to proactively identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
What do I need to be successful in this role?
  • A strong engineering background with a good understanding of HSS, solid carbide and indexable carbide cutting tools.
  • Experience within a technical sales, applications engineering, manufacturing or similar customer‑facing engineering environment.
  • Strong technical and problem‑solving capability, with the confidence to understand customer challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credible relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • A commercially focused approach, with the drive to identify opportunities and contribute to sales growth.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites within your territory.

Experience delivering product demonstrations, technical training or supporting machining applications would be particularly advantageous.

What's in it for me?
  • A competitive salary alongside inclusion into our company bonus scheme.
  • Company car.
  • Enhanced employer pension contribution.
  • Our Private Medical Insurance offers eligible team members the ability to access a broad range of treatments quickly when they need it the most.
  • 20 days annual leave entitlement plus Bank Holidays, with the opportunity to purchase additional annual leave.
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity pay to support you and your family during life's important moments.
  • A company-funded Healthcare Cash Plan, giving you access to everyday healthcare benefits.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), providing confidential support whenever you need it.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities to further develop your technical and commercial expertise.
