Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Bolton

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 38 hrs per week (Mon to Thurs 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 12:50)

About Us:

Backer Heatrod is a leading UK manufacturer of electric heating elements and industrial heating solutions. As part of the global NIBE Element Group, we design and produce both standard and bespoke heating products for a wide range of industries including process, food & beverage, and chemical sectors.

What You'll Do:

  • Act as a technical point of contact for customer enquiries and projects
  • Deliver tailored proposals and presentations
  • Identify customer needs and engineer bespoke solutions
  • Develop new business and nurture existing relationships
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams
  • Support product development and quality assurance
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and produce sales reports
  • Travel to customer sites across the UK (pool car provided)

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • HNC or Degree in Engineering
  • Experience in customer-facing sales roles
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, CRM systems)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple projects

Desirable:

  • Mechanical or Electrical engineering background
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or 5S
  • Knowledge of heating element industry
  • SolidWorks proficiency
  • Project management experience
