Job summary

Intro, a London-based FinTech, is seeking an experienced Technical Product Owner to join a team building complex, customer-facing financial technology products. This role requires deep technical understanding beyond traditional backlog management.

You’ll work closely with software engineers, understand systems, architectures, APIs and data flows, and translate requirements into robust technical deliverables across mobile and backend platforms.

Job description

We’re supporting a high growth London based FinTech/product company looking for an experienced Technical Product Owner to join a team building complex, customer facing financial technology products.

This is not a traditional Product Owner role focused primarily on backlog administration and stakeholder management, - technical depth is a core requirement.

You’ll work closely with software engineers and need to understand systems, architecture, APIs, data flows and codebases in enough detail to challenge assumptions, identify dependencies and translate requirements into technically robust solutions.

You’ll sit at the intersection of product, engineering and business, taking complex requirements and turning them into clear, actionable technical deliverables across mobile and backend platforms.

What you’ll be doing

• Own and prioritise the engineering backlog, ensuring requirements are technically detailed and ready for development
• Translate business and product requirements into clear technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria
• Work directly with engineers to understand existing codebases, system behaviour, APIs, integrations, data flows and technical constraints
• Break complex problems into deliverable components, identifying dependencies, edge cases and potential technical risks
• Contribute meaningfully to technical discussions rather than simply acting as the conduit between engineering and the business
• Partner with stakeholders across product, engineering and the wider organisation to drive delivery from initial requirement through to production
• Use AI tooling to accelerate specifications, tickets, documentation and analysis while maintaining a high standard of technical accuracy

What we’re looking for

• Experience as a Technical Product Owner, Technical Product Manager or similarly hands-on technical delivery professional
• Genuine technical depth is essential; you should be comfortable getting into the detail of how software systems actually work
• A strong technical foundation; a previous software engineering/development background would be particularly valuable
• Strong understanding of areas such as APIs, backend services, integrations, databases/data flows, system architecture and the software development lifecycle
• Experience delivering technically complex mobile and backend products
• FinTech, banking, payments or broader financial services experience
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude to improve engineering/product workflows
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work credibly with both senior engineers and non-technical stakeholders

This role will particularly suit someone who has moved towards product ownership without losing their technical edge, someone who wants to understand what is happening under the hood, can ask engineers the right questions and is comfortable operating at a detailed technical level.

This is an office led position in Central London. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is unavailable.
