Technical Procurement Specialist

A leading UK manufacturer based in Paignton is seeking a Technical Procurement Specialist to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, recruited exclusively by Butler Rose on behalf of our client.

About the Role

Are you experienced in procurement or materials control within a business environment? This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key part in the supply chain of a forward‑thinking company. As Technical Procurement Specialist, you'll be responsible for the procurement and control of essential materials and consumables to support operational and project needs.

You'll act as the vital link between internal teams and suppliers, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance across all material handling and logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue materials to operational teams and manage returns, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded within the relevant systems.
  • Maintain inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and implement effective stock rotation.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply‑related issues.
  • Prepare materials for internal transfers or external dispatch, ensuring compliance with handling and shipping standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including records and traceability logs.
  • Ensure all materials conform to internal quality requirements and industry standards.
  • Support the procurement team in developing cost‑effective sourcing strategies and optimising inventory usage.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and compliant materials storage area.
  • Collaborate with various teams to support operational schedules and projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement of material control processes.
About You
  • Proven experience in materials control, logistics, or technical support within a business or operational environment.
  • Knowledge of material handling and storage requirements.
  • Understanding of operational processes and material traceability standards.
  • Excellent organisational, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality assurance focus.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
