Overview
Nights Technical Operator – Runcorn, £35,000. Mon – Fri 22:00 – 06:00.
We are seeking a Technical Operator to operate, maintain, improve and repair our state-of-the-art clean room within the Runcorn facility. You will support the delivery of operational KPIs (Productivity, Quality, Safety, Health and Environment, Cost, Delivery). Working within an autonomous team, you will drive excellent standards of production delivery and continuous improvement, while maintaining a safe and sustainable environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, improve and repair (OMIR) equipment to meet production targets safely, at the required quality level and on time.
- Champion specific skills and coach others within the team.
- Understand key cost drivers in the clean room and grow project management skills accordingly.
- Ensure KPI management within the clean room and drive delivery to meet targets.
- Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Ecommerce and production teams to deliver excellent service to customers.
- Apply technical knowledge to operate and service equipment, enabling safe and efficient production.
- Understand mechanism and motion principles; conduct changeovers on bottling and pouch lines.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems with packing machines; perform basic repairs (e.g., jams and minor mechanical issues).
- Safety: follow appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment.
- Environment: minimise waste and reduce costs while protecting health, safety and the environment.
- Quality: ensure all aspects of quality in the area comply with procedures to protect the brand and product.
- Leadership: promote a highly effective, autonomous team through strong communication, leading by example and conflict management, while keeping goals in focus.
- Coaching: develop skills within the team and coach others to drive excellence.
- Continuous Improvement: use performance measures to identify losses; apply cost deployment and zero-loss concepts to eliminate losses.
- Problem Solving: identify and prioritise issues and apply appropriate tools to prevent recurrence.
- Production Output: agree production plan targets and review performance to drive goals at individual and team level.
- Business Awareness: understand changing demands and how marketing/product innovation impact the business.
Qualifications & Skills
- Core Engineering Skills: maintenance, bench fitting and/or machining.
- Experience of working as part of an extended team within the manufacturing sector.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in manufacturing within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company.
- Experience as a team member within a project management team with awareness of project management tools and techniques.
