A humanitarian organization is looking for a Technical Operations Manager to lead land release activities in conflict zones. The role involves overseeing operations, managing a dedicated team, and shaping strategic initiatives. Candidates should have extensive experience in mine clearance and EOD operations, along with an IMAS EOD Level 3 qualification. Benefits include a competitive salary, accommodation, and generous leave policies, all aimed at ensuring a significant impact in conflict-affected communities.
As Technical Operations Manager, you will lead and oversee all aspects of land release activities – from community liaison and non-technical survey to clearance and EOD operations – ensuring they are delivered safely and in line with MAG’s standards. Working closely with the Head of Mission, you’ll help shape the country programme strategy and manage a dedicated technical team committed to reducing the threat of landmines and unexploded ordnance. This role offers the chance to make a tangible impact in communities affected by conflict, combining operational leadership with strategic influence. You’ll face complex challenges that require innovation, resilience, and collaboration – and your expertise will directly contribute to saving lives and restoring livelihoods.
You bring extensive experience in mine clearance and EOD operations in conflict-affected environments, including managing field operations and leading diverse teams. Skilled in mentoring, training, and transferring technical knowledge, with a solid understanding of mines, unexploded ordnance, and clearance techniques, including new developments within the sector. Working closely with and reporting to the Head of Mission, you will provide technical input into proposals and reports, liaise with donors and government agencies, and ensure the quality and efficiency of MAG’s clearance work.
You hold an IMAS EOD Level 3 qualification as well as a Demining qualification (or equivalent suitable experience) with proven ability to operate in urban environments, conducting debris management and rubble clearance activities. It’s an advantage if you have experience in active conflict zones, familiarity with the Middle East, modern air-dropped weapons, and urban IEDD clearance. If you’re adaptable, proactive, and committed to MAG’s humanitarian mission, this role offers the chance to make a lasting impact in the communities affected by conflict.
Extensive use of precision-guided weapons, air-dropped munitions, land surface ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in OPT has destroyed critical infrastructure and created a complex contamination profile. The risk associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) will significantly impact reconstruction efforts, food security, and access to clean water. The MAG OPT Emergency Response aims to address these risks by educating communities, identifying, and clearing explosive hazards, and developing national capacity.
