A law enforcement agency is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee digital forensic laboratory operations. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with forensic regulations and maintain accreditation standards. Responsibilities include developing standard operating procedures, managing quality systems, and serving as a contact for accreditation audits. Candidates should have an MSc in Forensic Science or significant experience in an accredited lab environment. This role is located in Arnold, United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and improving the delivery of accredited digital evidence in Nottinghamshire Police. The Technical Manager in an accredited digital forensic laboratory is responsible for maintaining the technical operations required to deliver high-quality forensic services in line with national and international accreditation standards.
The Technical Manager looks after all laboratory processes, procedures, and equipment to comply with the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice and relevant ISO standards, thus guaranteeing the integrity, reliability, and admissibility of digital evidence in legal proceedings.
The role involves developing, implementing, and regularly reviewing standard operating procedures, validating processes, equipment, and staff, and managing the laboratory's quality management system.
In addition, the Technical Manager acts as the principal point of contact for technical queries, audits, and external assessments relating to laboratory accreditation. They are tasked with identifying training needs, ensuring staff competency, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Ultimately, the Technical Manager plays a pivotal role in upholding the credibility of the laboratory’s forensic output, supporting operational effectiveness, and ensuring that the organisation consistently meets statutory, regulatory, and customer requirements.
The successful applicant will have an MSc level qualification in Forensic Science or a related discipline or will have several years of experience working in an accredited lab environment.
