Technical Manager - Food Manufacturing

Location: Peterborough

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £72k DOE

Are you a passionate food industry professional with a strong background in Food Safety and Quality? We're seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the technical function at our Peterborough site. You'll play a key role in the site leadership team, ensuring all products meet the highest standards of safety, legality, and quality — every time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Technical team to deliver best-in‑class Food Safety and Quality performance.
  • Ensure compliance with customer standards, BRCGS, and legal requirements.
  • Drive a proactive Food Safety and Quality Culture across the site.
  • Act as the key customer contact for all technical and quality‑related matters.
  • Oversee HACCP validation and verification, quality control points, and process controls.
  • Manage supplier approval, raw material management, and project technical sign‑off.
  • Support NPD integration, ensuring product safety and quality from concept to launch.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage site Technical budgets and support wider site performance metrics.
About You
  • Degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • In‑depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Proven experience in food manufacturing (ideally dairy or liquid processing).
  • Excellent leadership and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
  • Able to coach and mentor teams and collaborate effectively at all levels.
