Role Overview
Binnies is recruiting a Technical Manager to sit within the Environmental Consultancy (EC) Team. Our current portfolio of delivery includes projects of varying scale and complexity across the Infrastructure, Natural Capital and Nature Based Solutions, Water, Energy and Commercial Sectors, both nationally and internationally. Responsibilities
- Lead and be accountable for the coordination and resourcing of specialist resources to deliver the portfolio of work.
- Provide bid management, technical bid and client engagement support for client opportunities.
- Coordinate with Binnies technical communities of practice to focus service development and innovation to meet current and future client needs.
- Collaborate with industry associations, research institutions, and other relevant organisations to stay informed of the latest technological advancements and emerging trends in environmental consultancy and impact assessment.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Wellbeing is at the heart of each project.
- Lead the technical coordination of EC projects and oversee technical teams of environmental services specialists in the production of concise, focused reports for a range of clients.
- Ensure reports meet client requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance to the team, ensuring they are at the forefront of the latest industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Client representatives to deliver client and project needs, provide updates on project progress, and address any technical concerns.
- Independently provide technical leadership and share knowledge and application of technical and quality management processes.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary and specialist teams to deliver projects with a range of complexity in impact assessment, nature-based solution development, habitat creation and landscape-scale enhancement.
- Determine key client interests and drivers on high complexity projects and identify key clients in specific business lines.
- Serve as a key technical advisor in the delivery of environmental projects and proactively offer other technical services to meet clients’ specific challenges and requirements.
- Contribute to business development, strategy and pursuit activities with commercial acumen.
- Manage allocated overhead budget for client engagement and bid management tasks and demonstrate proactive change management through task coordination and project delivery.
- Apply knowledge of programme management using Microsoft Project or equivalent software.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Environmental or Natural Sciences (preferred) or specialized training that qualifies the individual to perform the job responsibilities.
- Industry‑recognized professional chartered qualification.
- Experience providing technical coordination of multi‑disciplinary teams across the full project development cycle (strategy, appraisal, feasibility, consenting & delivery).
- Experience integrating digital tools or solutions to improve project quality and efficiency.
