A pioneering battery storage business has just completed successful commercial trials, secured new funding, and is now entering a rapid scale‑up phase. They need a technical linchpin to own delivery and build out O&M from the ground up. If you want to join at the inflection point and shape the infrastructure of a cleaner grid, this is that moment.

Why This Role?

You’ll manage outsourced installation of commercial Battery Energy Storage Systems across the full project lifecycle; from G99 applications and DNO liaison through to commissioning, client handover, and ongoing O&M. But this isn’t just an execution role. You’ll be building the delivery function from scratch, working directly alongside the executive team, designing the delivery model, building the governance frameworks, and creating the playbooks that allow the business to scale reliably and at pace.

You’ll Likely Come From…

A background in electrical project management, BESS commissioning, or HV/LV installation, with hands‑on experience managing subcontractors and navigating DNO processes. You’ll probably hold a relevant electrical qualification (C&G, HNC, or equivalent) and have worked on grid‑connected systems or commercial energy projects. You’re as comfortable on‑site as you are designing process and governance. You don’t need a team around you to get things done.

What You’ll Be Doing

Plan & Prepare

• Own technical readiness from project award to handover, including compliance and connection planning.
• Lead G99 applications and act as the primary DNO liaison.
• Set up project trackers, define test plans, and ensure documentation is watertight.

Manage Delivery

• Oversee subcontracted installers, holding partners to account on schedule, safety, and quality.
• Manage corrective actions, take handover of electrical works, review certification, and run project governance.
• Build the subcontractor governance framework, delivery playbooks, and documentation standards that will underpin scale.

Commission & Hand Over

• Build deep product knowledge to support and troubleshoot installations remotely and on‑site.
• Lead commissioning, witness testing, and documentation sign‑off.
• Deliver client training and ensure seamless handover to operations.

Build & Manage O&M

• Design and implement an O&M model for commercial customers from scratch.
• Define preventative maintenance schedules, incident response protocols, and performance reporting.
• Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement as the installed base grows.
