Overview

Title: Technical Manager

Location: Altrincham (WA14 3DN)

Salary: £50,000 per annum

Shifts: Monday- Thursday 08:00-16:30, Fridays 08:00-13:00

Contract Type: Permanent

Our client is a manufacturing company specialising in steel & aluminium castings for the Aerospace, Defence and Oil and Gas Industries.

You will be responsible for leading a team of Engineers dealing with all aspects of technical methods & Production improvement operations, including Wax/Shell/Foundry, and finishing operations.

You will manage all aspects of technical engineering relating to casting manufacturing and champion new product implementation. You will control the tooling and the processes for new /modified tooling as efficiently as possible ensuing timely implementation of new tooling relating to the NPI process by effective project management, intervening when necessary to ensure the correct decisions are made in timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and drive continuous improvement in connection with product, process, and people. Thus, ensuring that we can produce castings in the most efficient and most economical way whilst minimizing scrap and rework cycles.
  • Ensure products are produced in line with customer specification, performing checks where necessary.
  • Ensure good communication is given either verbally or written to all members of the production team.
  • Problem solving - to identify root causes and take effective action to resolve the problems in hand and be solution focused.
  • To work closely with Managers, Supervisors & Team Leaders to ensure that production complies technically.
  • Liaise with Commercial, Sales, Quality and production staff regarding Techniques, dimensional specifications, and quality in line with customer drawing & specification.
  • Observe and comply with all good working practices within the factory.
  • Ensuring all parts have correct Routing (PFEP) and IPC is relevant and up to date.
  • Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Carry out investigations of non-conforming products.
Qualifications
  • Educated to a minimum HND level in Engineering/Metallurgy or a related discipline.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Be hard working and conscientious with the ability to motivate & support.
  • Have a desire to contribute to the Senior Manager team.
  • Good attention to detail.
