Overview

Technical Licensing Officer — Based in Thurrock — Temporary on going — 37 hours per week — £17-22 per hour

We are seeking a committed individual to join us as a Technical Licensing Officer within the Selective Licensing Team. You'll play a key role in supporting the implementation and day-to-day management of the borough's Selective Licensing scheme, which goes live in January 2026. This is a vital role ensuring landlords and managing agents meet their legal obligations and that residents live in safe, well-managed homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply housing and licensing legislation to assess, process, and determine licence applications in line with the Housing Act 2004.
  • Use digital systems and data tools confidently to manage cases, maintain accurate records, and produce performance reports.
  • Manage an active caseload, ensuring all tasks are completed within statutory and service deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies to resolve issues and promote compliance.
  • Support the improvement of housing standards across Thurrock through advice, inspection, and enforcement activity where required
