Job summary

Mustard Systems Ltd. is a London-based quantitative trading firm developing data-intensive systems powered by machine learning and advanced data engineering.

We seek a Technical Lead to build this new trading operation from the ground up in the UK and US markets. You will lead a cross-functional team of developers, quants, and traders, designing and delivering low-latency data and trading infrastructure, automated execution, and production-ready deployment tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience, with Python.
• Experience designing, building and operating complex production systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data structures, concurrency, networking and distributed systems.
• Ability to diagnose difficult performance and reliability problems.
• Strong technical judgement balancing speed, simplicity, performance and maintainability.
• Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly and lead less experienced team members.
• Willingness to remain hands-on while providing technical leadership.
• Ability to use AI and AI-generated code effectively and responsibly.
• A degree in Computer Science or a numerical subject from a top university.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small cross-functional team across development, quantitative modelling and trading.
• Design and build critical systems while providing technical supervision and mentorship.
• Develop low-latency data and trading infrastructure across multiple platforms.
• Create automated execution and order-management systems.
• Build infrastructure for deploying quantitative models into production.
• Develop systems for managing positions, capital, risk and exposure.
• Provide monitoring, observability, and reliability for live trading operations.
