Title: Engineering Technical Lead – AI & Software Development
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing technology business with offices in Liverpool, who are looking for an experienced Engineering Technical Lead to take technical ownership of their Engineering team.
This is a great opportunity for a hands‑on technical leader who combines strong software engineering experience with a commercial mindset and genuine interest in how technology can help drive the wider business forward.
Our client is particularly interested in someone who is already comfortable using AI development tools and can help the wider Engineering team make better use of them. They are currently using Claude Code, although experience with other AI tools is equally relevant.
The Role
As Engineering Technical Lead, you will provide technical leadership across the Engineering team while remaining hands‑on with technology.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Engineering, Sales, Marketing and other areas of the business, ensuring that technical decisions are aligned with customer needs and wider commercial objectives.
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to sit several layers removed from the technology. You’ll still be getting involved in architecture, development and technical problem‑solving, while also helping shape the team's approach to AI‑assisted development and engineering best practice.

- Ensure engineering standards, architecture and development practices continue to evolve.
- Help create a collaborative, innovative and high‑performing Engineering culture.

- Previous experience in a senior engineering or technical leadership position.
- Strong understanding of modern software development, architecture and engineering practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- A strong commercial outlook and an understanding of how technology decisions impact the wider business.
- Experience working collaboratively with departments such as Sales and Marketing.
- Proven experience using AI tools within software development.

- Experience working within a smaller, entrepreneurial technology business.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring an Engineering team.
