Job description
Overview

We are currently recruiting for a leading food company for their warehouse facility in March, Cambs. They are seeking a Technical Intake Operative to start asap. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. 37.5 hours per week. This is an on-going temporary role, potentially leading to permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Work in the warehouse to sample raw materials and packaging directly from deliveries and test them in the on-site lab.
  • Complete physical and in-house testing of food products and packaging.
  • Cross-check delivery documentation, ensuring everything meets quality standards.
  • Manage systems like iAuditor and QAD, submit external test results, and release materials for production.
  • Raise non-conformances and support supplier assurance tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with BRC standards and customer codes of practice.
  • Maintain hygiene standards and calibrate equipment daily.
  • Perform allergen swabs and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Build relationships with suppliers to improve the intake process and reduce rejected deliveries.
  • Support the Technical and NPD teams with sample testing and additional requests.
  • Assist in traceability exercises and customer complaint investigations.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (Technical, QA, Production, or NPD). Training will be provided.
  • A passion for quality assurance and delivering excellence, and a desire to be in a hands-on role working between the warehouse and lab.
  • Knowledge of QA principles, Food Safety, and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent organisation, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • A hands-on attitude, attention to detail, and a knack for spotting improvement opportunities.
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills – completing paperwork, using MS Office and company systems via computers or iPads on a daily basis.
  • Well-developed communication skills – ability to present written and verbal reports that are understood by the target audience.
  • Project coordination – ability to get hands-on and understand the critical path to deliver within agreed timeframes.
