Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking personnel in a role within the AIRS service to uphold high standards of patient communication, consent, and escalation as required. The position emphasizes professional interaction with colleagues, adherence to safety guidelines, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include prioritising tasks, supporting induction and mentorship, maintaining accurate records, and participating in quality improvement

Qualifications

  • To establish and maintain effective communication with Service Users, andtheir carers and/or family members, taking into account communicationchallenges e.g. hearing impairment, anxiety, non-verbal.
  • To maintain professional communication and behavioural frameworkstandards with fellow colleagues, to ensure trust values are maintained, andto support the effective communication of task delegation and feedback to theappropriate colleague.
  • To be aware of your own role-based limitations and to advise Service Users totalk to appropriate professionals. To practice within the boundaries andlimitations of your role, referring or escalating anything outside of these to aRegistered Nurse/Physiotherapist.
  • To obtain valid consent from the patient prior to undertaking any task and toinform and seek guidance from the Registered Nurse / Physiotherapist, ifthere are any concerns about the patient's capacity to give consent.
  • To refer Service Users, with their consent, to other services or agencies asappropriate, at the direction of or with the approval of a Registered Nurse orPhysiotherapist.

  • Be responsible for organising own priorities and delegated workload.
  • To plan activities such as reassessments, make appointments and collaboratewith colleagues to ensure the most urgent tasks are completed within anappropriate time frame.
  • To support with the induction and mentorship of new or rotating staff, withinthe AIRS service, and to support the learning opportunities of studentsattending Pulmonary Rehabilitation for a study day or placement.
  • To operate within the policies, procedures and guidelines of the Trust &professional bodies, at all times.
  • To maintain and ensure clinical records are factual, organised, clear andwhich comply with current guidelines.
  • To contribute to service development through engagement with QualityImprovement projects and implementing agreed change within own practice.
  • To actively engage in the annual appraisal process, reviewing achievementsand the development of a personal development plan.
  • To complete and maintain mandatory training compliance, as appropriate forthe role.
  • To engage in regular clinical supervision to reflect and develop practice.
  • To be aware of responsibility for self and others under the Health and Safetyat Work Act and to operate at all times within organisational and servicesafety guidelines.
  • To report all incidents and near misses to a senior member of the team, andwhere appropriate, complete incident reporting using the trusts reportingsystem.
