Job summary

Veolia Group in Portsmouth is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform scheduled and reactive general maintenance tasks, ensuring technical areas remain clean, safe and operational at a 40-hour-per-week site in Portsmouth.

You will conduct preventative checks, meter readings and servicing to prevent breakdowns, support health and safety compliance, and assist with on-site contractor coordination. A DBS check is required, and basic tools and documentation literacy are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

  • Experience using hand/power tools to perform simple building fabric repairs and maintenance.
  • Ability to pass a DBS check.
  • Competence with basic software and documentation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs & maintenance: carry out scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks to keep technical areas safe and operational.
  • Preventative checks: conduct routine inspections, meter readings and servicing to prevent breakdowns, plus portable appliance testing and lighting checks.
  • Compliance: follow health & safety regulations and maintain standards.
  • Site support: assist with escorting and supervising contractors on site.

What you'll be doing:
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out scheduled and reactive general maintenance tasks, assisting with keeping technical areas clean, safe and operational.
  • Preventative Checks: Conducting routine inspections, meter readings and servicing to prevent breakdowns. Portable Appliance testing. Fire Alarm & Emergency light testing Completing tasks efficiently and moving between jobs as priorities change. Responding to service desk requests in line with site KPI's Completing any reasonable request to support the site operations.
  • Compliance: Following health & safety regulations and maintaining standards.
  • Site Support: Support the technical services department escort and supervise contractors on site.
What we're looking for:
  • Ability to pass DBS check
  • Experience using hand/power tools, ability to complete simple building fabric repairs and maintenance
  • Experience identifying issues and finding practical solutions with support of the maintenance team.
  • Dexterity, coordination, and physical fitness.
  • Communication, teamwork, time management, attention to detail, and self-motivation.
  • Competence with basic software and documentation.
