Job summary

Syngenta Crop Protection seeks a Senior Technical Expert Toxicology to work at Jealotts Hill, UK, focusing on EU regulatory toxicology for crop protection products. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years in regulatory toxicology, preferably in agrochemical industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks for plant protection products.
  • Proven track record in managing complex toxicology projects and regulatory submissions.
  • Strong scientific writing and data interpretation skills.
  • Experience in risk assessment and safety evaluation of chemical substances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and mentoring junior scientists.
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with trends and issues in toxicology and risk assessment.
  • Active participation in professional societies and industry working groups preferred.
  • Ability to utilise and deploy digital skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Are you looking to use your expertise in mammalian toxicology to shape the future of agricultural science? We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Expert Toxicology to join our dynamic team based in Jealotts Hill as a (Senior) technical expert in EU regulatory toxicology. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of our crop protection products in the European market. You will manage human toxicology technical project inputs into multidisciplinary EU teams, interpret complex scientific data, and provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements for active substances, metabolites, and product registration processes.

Accountabilities
  • Lead toxicology project data management and strategy development for EU project teams
  • Prepare and review toxicology sections of regulatory submissions for EU plant protection product registrations and renewals
  • Collaborate with risk assessment teams to communicate safety evaluations
  • Work cross-functionally to develop integrated strategies for new product development and extending existing product registrations
  • Represent Syngenta in regulatory forums and engage with authorities (EFSA, ECHA, etc.)
  • Stay current with EU regulations, scientific developments, and emerging issues in toxicology
  • Provide technical training and contribute to best practices within the EU toxicology team
  • Participate in industry task forces and working groups as required
Qualifications
  • BSc, MSc/Ph.D. or equivalent in Toxicology or closely related field ideally with a minimum of 3 years of experience in regulatory toxicology, preferably in the agrochemical industry
  • Extensive knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks for plant protection products
  • Proven track record in managing complex toxicology projects and regulatory submissions
  • Strong scientific writing and data interpretation skills
  • Experience in risk assessment and safety evaluation of chemical substances
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams and experience mentoring junior scientists
  • Demonstrated abilities in strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Familiarity with current trends and emerging issues in toxicology and risk assessment
  • Active participation in professional societies and industry working groups is preferred
  • Ability to utilise and deploy digital skills would be an advantage
