Job description

Through EPR‑E's integrated teams. As a Piping Calculation Engineer at Hinkley Point C, you'll play a key role in completing the design phase of one of the UK's most significant nuclear projects. You'll be the specialist ensuring the integrity of a vast piping network that forms the backbone of the Nuclear Island. This is a hybrid role based at #AztecWest, with some flexibility to work from home – though you'll be expected in the office at least three days a week.

Who You Are

We're looking for a Piping Engineer who's collaborative, technically strong and solution‑oriented.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts clearly in writing and speech.
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, including modal/static analysis, finite element simulations, and CAD design/modelling.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory compliance, and nuclear project contexts (EPR or similar).
  • Experience in technical coordination, piping support calculations (RSTAB/BEAM STRESS), and tools such as CALTUY/Pipestress.
  • Knowledge of RCC‑M code (section C3650 at minimum).
  • Proficiency in Python for developing computational tools.
  • Innovative problem‑solving skills, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Perform detailed piping calculations and assess supports under load scenarios such as dead weight, thermal expansion, and seismic activity.
  • Oversee design changes, rework activities and mitigate open points to maintain project progress.
  • Collaborate with design and delivery teams to ensure technical quality across disciplines.
  • Resolve engineering issues pragmatically to keep the project moving forward.
  • Ensure design outputs and modifications are delivered on time and in line with process requirements.
Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary from £55,000, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension, the package includes customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.
