The Health and Safety Partnership Limited is recruiting a Technical Director to lead the Building Regulations and Compliance division, driving growth and shaping the service strategy in partnership with the Operations Director.

This office-based role involves regular travel to client sites, industry meetings and professional events, with a strong emphasis on leadership, governance and delivering high-quality projects.

Job description

Technical Director required to lead and drive the growth of a Building Regulations and Compliance Consultancy. This senior leadership role combines technical expertise, project oversight, business development and team leadership.

You will work closely with the Operations Director to shape the future direction of the service, strengthen technical capability and identify opportunities for sustainable growth.

This is primarily an office-based position, with regular travel to client sites, industry meetings and professional events.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership across building regulations, compliance and building control services.
• Oversee complex and high-risk projects, ensuring quality, commercial performance and client satisfaction.
• Develop and expand specialist consultancy services in response to market and regulatory changes.
• Build strong client relationships and contribute to new business, revenue growth and market development.
• Lead, coach and mentor technical teams, supporting professional development, succession and continuous improvement.
• Establish and maintain high standards of technical governance, quality assurance, compliance and project delivery.
• Keep the business ahead of legislative and industry developments, adapting processes and services where required.
• Promote a strong culture of health, safety, environmental responsibility and professional excellence.
• Establish effective project management processes to monitor progress, control budgets, meet key milestones and consistently deliver against agreed KPIs.
• Represent the business at industry events, professional forums and technical networks.
• Drive the development and enhancement of specialist services across the Building Regulations and Compliance division.
• Monitor market trends and client requirements to identify opportunities for service innovation, commercial models and effective delivery approaches.
• Establish and lead effective training, mentoring and development programmes to strengthen technical capability and support future succession.
• Manage performance reviews, CPD and competency development in line with relevant professional standards, including RICS and CABE.
• Represent the business at industry events, professional forums and technical networks.

Experience

• Ideally working at Director Level.
• Significant experience in building regulations, compliance or related building control services.
• A strong track record delivering complex projects, particularly involving high-risk buildings.
• Experience managing teams, budgets and commercially significant projects.
• Strong technical leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to develop people, influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic change.
• Proven track record in building control related services for complex and high-risk buildings.

Qualifications

• Chartered membership of RICS, CABE or an equivalent professional body.

Salary & Benefits

This Technical Director role is paying up to £130,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package including car, pension, bonus
