Job Title Technical Craftsperson (Lines)

Salary from £37,560 to £46,950 + benefits

Our SP Energy Networks business is responsible for the distribution of electricity to your property via our network of pylons, substations, cables and power lines. We serve 3.5 million homes and businesses across Central & Southern Scotland, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Shropshire and North Wales. We work round the clock to make sure you have power. This team is responsible for delivering the safe provision of one of the following specific activities with strict adherence to the appropriate regulatory and license obligations for the electricity distribution network; Operations & Maintenance.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take ownership of project planning and delivery, ensuring outages are minimised and performance targets are achieved. These include Customer Minutes Lost, Customer Interruptions, and Guaranteed Standards. You’ll work closely with customers and stakeholders to support clear communication and smooth delivery of projects that impact local communities.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities may include contract management, operational switching, and project coordination. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by analysing performance data and feedback, helping us enhance safety, reliability, and the integrity of the electrical network.

What you'll bring

Minimum Criteria

  • HV OHL operational Authorisation as a minimum
  • HV OHL documents preferred

Also experience in:

  • Project / programme coordination experience, to enable effective delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms.
  • General contract, commercial and regulatory awareness with the ability to balance effective and efficient customer service and project delivery, ensuring maximum return on investment.
  • Effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions.
  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPEN is operating.
  • Ability to devise solutions to problems/challenges.
  • Technical and operational experience in a relevant industrial role.
  • Low Voltage operational authorisation.
  • Working knowledge in the operation of the Interconnected LV network.
