Job summary

Marmion in Harrogate is seeking a Quality Coordinator to support a leading FMCG manufacturer. You will work with the Quality Manager on QA and food safety activities, audits, non-conformances and continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences or Natural Sciences or similar.
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications, Internal Auditor Training.
  • Experience in Quality Assurance, food safety, manufacturing, production, or microbiology/lab environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational and proactive change-support skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance and improvement of Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Manage non-conformances, investigations, and CAPA actions.
  • Participate in GMP audits, internal and external audit readiness.
  • Assist with traceability, training and promotion of food safety and quality compliance across the site.

Job description

We’re searching for a Quality Coordinator to join a leading FMCG manufacturer based in Harrogate. This role would suit someone with a background in Food Safety, Quality Assurance, Food Science, Microbiology, Laboratory Testing, or Food Manufacturing who is looking to take the next step forward in their career.

You’ll be in a role where you’ll support the Quality Manager, engage in internal and external audits, and support the wider production team on enhancing the quality and safety of the site.

  • Up to £37,000 pa, dependent on experience
  • Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week

The Role

This is a genuine development opportunity for a QA professional looking to progress into a broader quality and food safety role. You’ll work closely with the Quality Manager to support all quality assurance and food safety activities across the site. From helping to maintain Food Safety and Quality Systems, support audits and investigations, and manage non-conformances, to working closely with Production and Operations teams to provide training and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Food Safety and Quality Systems.
  • Manage finished goods and packaging material non-conformances, including stock control, investigations and corrective actions.
  • Participate in GMP audits, internal audits, external audit preparation and CAPA activities.
  • Support HACCP and Food Safety activities, including data reviews, hazard analysis, validations, reporting, and training
  • Act as a core member of the site Food Safety team, supporting food safety data reviews, process flow confirmations, hazard analysis, control validations, and report generation.
  • Work with Production teams to promote compliance with food safety, quality and regulatory requirements through auditing, coaching and training.
  • Support traceability exercises, mock recalls, documentation control and SOP management.
  • Assist with packaging validations, environmental monitoring activities and product quality investigations.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Degree qualified in Food Science, Biological Sciences, Natural Sciences or similar
  • HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications, and Internal Auditor Training
  • Prior experience working within Quality Assurance, food safety, compliance, manufacturing, production, or a microbiology/laboratory-based environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across departments.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong prioritisation skills.
  • Proactive, improvement-focused and confident supporting change and best practice initiatives.
  • A driving licence and access to transport would be beneficial due to occasional off-site visits.
