Job summary

AtkinsRéalis seeks a Technical Compliance Manager to lead the CP Technical Assurance framework, driving risk-based, compliant delivery across UK markets. You will partner with the Technical Assurance Director and operations teams to enhance governance and engineering excellence.

Our Complex Projects (CP) business unit serves as a centre of excellence for project delivery and technical innovation across the UK and Ireland, uniting exceptional client‑side project management expertise with world‑class execution and management contracting capabilities, enabling us to deliver outstanding solutions for our clients. Our Technical Assurance team is the home of grip, control, and accountability. To drive forward our Assurance function we have identified the need for a Technical Compliance Manager. This role will form part of the CP Technical Directorate function, reporting to the Business Unit (BU) Technical Assurance Director. The primary focus of this role will be to support the Technical Assurance Director in driving forward operational assurance and compliance initiatives, developing business process improvements and monitoring delivery risk and compliance. The candidate will work closely with the Operations team and leaders from across our delivery sectors to drive engineering excellence, technical compliance, and evolve how we work. This will involve taking a hands‑on role in organising, preparing for, shaping and driving the day‑to‑day technical review forums, communities, and improvement workstreams. The role is expected to be wide ranging, touching all aspects of our business from technical audits, delivery readiness and supply chain engagement to strategic goal setting and staff engagement. This role represents an opportunity for significant exposure to the inner workings of our business, with the opportunity to make a lasting impact by shaping the CP growth story.

Your role

We are seeking an energetic, and persuasive professional, capable of taking ownership of multiple competing priorities and creating a coherent forward focused view. This is more than an administrative or technical management role, it will require someone with a desire to find commonality across sectors and drive technical compliance and assurance in a changing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and continuously improve the Technical Assurance Framework across supported markets. Accountable as the senior authority for technical assurance processes in the CP business, ensuring they are proportionate, risk‑based, and compliant. Support the Technical Assurance Director in overseeing technical compliance across all sectors within the CP business, ensuring the assurance framework is implemented, processes are robust and audited and a continuous improvement “lessons learnt” culture is in place. Ensure the consistent implementation of technical assurance reviews across all sectors within the CP business. Own the Technical Audit programme for CP activities. Promote evidence‑based decision making, proactive risk management and accountable governance. Work closely with the Technical Expert leadership to ensure alignment of assurance process, skills and competences. Support bids, design reviews, major technical challenges, and critical risk management activities. Align the compliance and assurance team with business strategy and emerging technologies. Act as senior point of contact for escalation of engineering and assurance challenges. Foster a high‑performance culture through motivation, collaboration, and clear communication. Support initiatives that improve representation, equity, and belonging across the organisation.

About you
